Three months after Kim Kardashian’s traumatic robbery in Paris, where she was bound and gagged and held at gunpoint, police arrested 17 suspects they believe are the perpetrators of the heinous crime. According to reports from Europe 1 and RTL Radio, the robbers were arrested after traces of their DNA was found in the apartment and a surveillance video showed robbers taking off on bikes.
The suspects were arrested in five different cities early Monday morning and hauled into multiple police stations for questioning. Each person can be held for up to 96 hours before police have to either charge or release them.
In early October, two armed men masked as police officers pulled off a major jewelry heist when they gained access to Kim Kardashian’s private Paris apartment and robbed her of nearly $10 million worth of jewels, including her massive wedding ring from Kanye West. While going through her belongings, robbers gagged and bound Kardashian at her hands and feet, then handcuffed her and held her at gunpoint. They then covered her mouth with tape and put her in the bathtub, where she eventually she broke free after they left.
Europe 1 reports that some of the suspects are known to police and one of the people arrested is 60 years old. According to TMZ, three of the suspects are female and the rest are male.
Before any suspects were arrested, the Daily Mail reported that the Pink Panther Gang, an infamous gang of “super-criminals,” had something to do with the incident.
The group, whose members mostly hail from Serbia and Montenegro, got their name after a 2003 London robbery, in which one of the thieves hid a diamond in a pot of beauty cream, similar to a plot line in one of the Pink Panther movies. They’ve reportedly stolen more than $300 million worth of jewelry to date. There’s currently no word on whether or not any of the gang members were arrested as suspects.
Since Kardashian’s trauma, the 36-year-old reality star has kept a low-profile until recently, when she posted on social media for the first time in the last three months. For anyone looking to find out grisly details, Kardashian will be talking about the incident on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. In a new promo clip from the upcoming season, Kardashian breaks down in front of her sisters and relives the horror of that night.
“They’re going to shoot me in the back,” she recalled. “There’s no way out. It makes me so upset to think about it.”
We will be updating this story as more details about the suspects are revealed.
