Last night Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour kicked off in Glendale, Arizona. Before her world tour kicked off Katy Perry sent Swift a literal olive branch officially squashing their beef. The same can’t be said about Swift and Kim Kardashian.
Kardashian and Swift have been feuding ever since July 17, 2016, when Kardashian called Swift a snake on her social media. We all know what happened next? Swift’s Instagram comments were flooded with the snake emoji. It was so bad Instagram invented the option to turn off comments on post because of it. She went MIA on social media and then dropped Reputation in the fall of 2017.
Last night in Glendale Swift gave a speech before she performed “Long Live.” The speech called out Kardashian for bullying her.
“A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media. And I went through some really low times for a while because of it. I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was gonna get to do this anymore and I guess the snakes… I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name calling to bully you on social media and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to beat you. It can strengthen you instead.”
She was performing with a crowd of her fans so her speech was met with cheers. This wasn’t the only time being a snake was referenced. Swift is really turning the snake name calling into a form of empowerment. Huge snake figures were brought on stage during “Look What You Made Me Do.”
I think these two are going to need more than an olive branch to mend their relationship.
