Kim Kardashian’s insurance company, AIG has filed a suit against her former bodyguard, Pascal Duvier for $6.1 million.
Back in 2016, Kardashian’s hotel room was broken into by five men dressed as police officers. The men tied and gagged the reality TV star, held her at gun point and stole $6.1 million in jewelry from her.
According to the lawsuit, Duvier and the company he was employed by, PROTECTSECURITY are being sued for their role in the robbery.
The lawsuit states that Duvier “negligently, carelessly, and/or recklessly performed their protection, security, monitoring, inspection, and/or surveying of” Kim and they “should have known that they were required to protect, secure, monitor, inspect, and/or survey … using the skill and care reasonably expected of those in this industry.”
Duvier wasn’t even on the premise when the robbery went down. Kim stayed in for the night and Kourtney and Kendall took the bodyguard and headed to the club for a party.
The lawsuit states a number of security breaches that Duvier didn’t flag or take care of. For example, the front gate at the hotel was missing its lock and the intercom to the door wasn’t working at the time.
According to TMZ, the hotel and the concierge are not being sued despite not having ample security and security training as well.
AIG is the one suing Duvier and PROTECTSECURITY, Kardashian is not suing the company or her former bodyguard. AIG is simply going after the individuals they believe are responsible for them forking over $6.1 million to Kardashian after the incident happened.
According to People, after the incident, Duvier resigned as Kardashian’s bodyguard. She has since only returned to Paris once for Virgil Abloh’s debut Louis Vuitton menswear collection in June 2018.
