Kanye West just dropped his eighth album ye. Following a slew of political controversy, people are looking for more insight into West’s recent actions. The third song on the track “Wouldn’t Leave” he tackles the recent controversies and how they affected his marriage to Kim Kardashian. West raps that he told Kardashian she could divorce him.
The song opens up with, “I don’t feel that she’s mine enough.” Then it mentions Kanye’s tattoo he got for his daughter North on his wrist. “Butterfly in my wrist / You make me run out of my skin.”
In the first verse, West raps about his slavery were a choice comments and his 2013 interview on the radio show Sway In The Morning. He said that after those comments Kardashian called him screaming.
“My wife callin’, screamin’, say, “we ’bout to lose it all!” / Had to calm her down ’cause she couldn’t breathe / Told her she could leave me now / But she wouldn’t leave.”
When West was tweeting pro-Trump and Make America Great sentiments people wondered what Kardashian thought because she was a Clinton supporter and politically leans liberal. Most recently Kardashian is advocating for prison reform and the release of Alice Marie Johnson.
She and her sisters, Kourtney and Khloe, advocated for Planned Parenthood and even visited the organization on their show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. They helped bring awareness to the clinic and all the other services they have to offer. They met with people who have benefitted from their services and gave the organization a huge platform.
The song ends with West lamenting that “Wouldn’t Leave” is for any guy that messed up and “embarrassed” their partner. He raps that Kardashian told him not do or say the things he said because it will backfire and mess up their cash flow.
“Now you testing her loyalty / This what they mean when they say / “For better or for worse”, huh? / For every damn female that stuck with they dude / Through the best times, through the worst times / This for you.”
These past months have taken a toll on West and Kardashian’s marriage, but they’re still prevailing. The couple celebrated their four-year wedding anniversary on May 24 and Kardashian reminded West and everyone else that she’s in it for life.
Kardashian wasn’t joking when she said she was ride or die for her man.
