Kanye West’s latest album ye reached number one on U.S. iTunes charts despite being canceled a few months ago. His album which has received mixed reviews puts his mental illness, family drama and marital issues with Kim Kardashian at the center. People were upset that he didn’t further explain his recent conservatism and “slavery was a choice” comments. In Meaghan Garvey’s review of ye for Pitchfork, she wrote that West’s recent behavior was “building up to exactly nothing” and that ye is “an album born from chaos for choas’ sake.”
The only time he touched on his slavery comments is in “Wouldn’t Leave.” The song wasn’t even about him, it was about how Kardashian reacted to his wild comments. The song says that Kardashian called him screaming and was worried that he would mess up their income.
Last night at the CFDA Fashion Awards Kardashian was asked about the lyrics and if they are true. “Did I talk about it? Did I scream about it? Did I cry about it? Did I fight about it? Yeah,” Kardashian said according to Elite Daily.
“That’s not stuff we put on social media — I’m not going to start tweeting what my thoughts are, but we have those moments and that was the one song that he didn’t really play for me until the last minute, so I heard that last minute and it meant a lot to me,” she continued.
Kardashian concluded, “I really like that song. But yeah, we have different views sometimes, but that’s my husband, you know?”
At the beginning of May, West ventured to the TMZ headquarters to clear the air on his recent Make America Great tweets, but instead, he just stirred up more controversy. He stated that slavery was a choice and everyone was appalled. One TMZ staffer, Van Lathan, spoke up and put West in his place
West didn’t take back his slavery comment, cleared the air, apologize or doubled down on his original statement. All we know is that Kardashian was pissed about the comments and that “Wouldn’t Leave” is wifey approved.
