Kim Kardashian was one of the first celebrities to truly take advantage of the social media age. Joining Twitter more than 10 years ago, Kardashian has gone on to earn more than 62 million followers on Twitter and an absurd 149 million followers on Instagram.
This week, Kardashian looked back at the beginning of her social media career by reflecting on her first-ever tweet.
“I remember the day I signed up for Twitter! So crazy looking back,” Kardashian wrote.
So what did her first-ever tweet say?
“Hey guys it’s Kim Kardashian! I finally signed up for Twitter! There are a few fakes so just know this is the real me!!!” she wrote back on March 21, 2009.
Since that moment, Kardashian has not slowed down.
Perhaps the most impressive part of her social media presence, however, is that she personally posts on her social media accounts rather than hiring a person or firm to monitor and regulate the activity on her pages.
“I have felt overwhelmed at times, especially when I’m with the kids. I like to give [North and Saint] my full attention and not be on my phone, so I do feel like I want to post and get busy sometimes,” she said in a past interview with Vanity Fair. “I do take the time to take a second for myself to post and see what other people are posting. I could never see me hiring someone.
“For me, it wouldn’t seem authentic. Because it’s all about me, I couldn’t imagine trying to find someone to do that for me.”
That authenticity has led to Kardashian growing her following and it is showing no signs of slowing down.
